No More Excuses! Now Is The Time To Lose Weight And Get In Shape! (Any Sound Familiar To You?!)

It’s important to realize that even though your reasons for not exercising and losing weight will seem valid to you, they are in fact still excuses. I know this sounds harsh, but it is too easy to fall back on these excuses each and every time you try to lose weight and get fit. Change is hard, lets face it we all get into our own comfort zones and life is very hectic, but you need to be prepared to make some changes in your lifestyle if you want results.

“Not enough hours in the day”. Yes we all feel this one at times, however it is all about prioritising and setting yourself up for success. One of my great clients has 5 kids and works outside of the home and she manages to train 5 days a week, is fit, slim and full of good health and has decreased her stress levels significantly. How does she do it? She places herself first! She understands that if she doesn’t maintain a healthy lifestyle and give herself permission to workout and eat well then there’s no way she can do all the things required of her. She’s been willing to break some rules and ‘let it go’ in order to reclaim her life. t

We all are given the same number of hours in our day, so you need to decide the best way to utilise those hours. Do you know that the average person watches 28 hours of TV per week? Do you think they could just maybe use 4 of those hours for exercise?

Try not to get into negative self-talk about your training. Think of it like a job that you just have to do. Eventually it will become a habit for you and you will actually start to look forward to it.

“I’m going through Menopause so it’s not my fault I put on weight” When I say you need to “turn up the heat” with your exercise some of you will be saying “I can do that without even moving!” Yep, hot flushes, mood swings and all the rest of it that can happen with menopause. Remember, it’s your decision how you want to be. There are ways of coping well with menopause that your doctor or naturopath can help with. The good news is that exercise is a great way to handle those mood swings, and guess what, you will finally have a reason for sweating!

“I don’t know what to do” Like most things in life if we don’t know how to go about it we find out! Seek out a specialist in the area of exercise and nutrition, remember they have done all the hard work for you. You no longer have to fluff around trying a different diet or a different exercise machine each week and failing miserably. If you don’t live near a gym or are not ready to go there, then why not try on-line training?

“It costs too much to get fit” It costs way more to get fat! The great thing is that you don’t have to join a gym is you don’t want to or buy expensive training equipment. You can simply use the great outdoors or train at home if you prefer.

So, be honest with yourself. Are the excuses you’ve used in the past really valid? Remember, you are the only person responsible for your body. Your body mirrors your lifestyle choices – what is it saying about you?
