You can start a diet and or exercise regimen that may cause you to lose your belly fat, but it will only be because you lost fat from your entire body.

Even better are interval type exercises, where you work your body at different rates during the workout. Great examples of these types of workouts are various team sports where the intensity varies constantly.
A team sport like Basketball is a great exercise because it requires lots of rapid acceleration and braking and turning. When you are doing an exercise like this, your body’s short term supplies of carbohydrate are used up fairly quickly and the body starts burning fat through the rest of the workout. Not only does it burn fat during the exercise but, if you do this type of exercise regularly, it will raise your base metabolism rate and your body will burn more energy all day!
You can use a diet as an effective short term method of losing extra weight, which would include your belly. But you need to realize that maintaining a lower weight will require you to make permanent reductions in what you eat so that what you take in is metabolized by your daily activity. The problem starts coming back if you eat just a little extra each day. It may not seem like much at the time, but it can add up to lots of extra pounds within a year.
To be successful in getting rid of your belly and keeping it off, you will need to make a fundamental change to your lifestyle so you are permanently doing adequate exercise and also not over eating. If you do both of these things, you’ll not only lose the belly, you’ll feel great and look like you have a new body!
